STEPHENVILLE After four years of sitting as a town councillor, Darlene Oake has decided to offer herself again for election to the Stephenville town council.
The incumbent member was originally elected in the fall of 2009 and said she was pleased and humbled to land a seat on council.
“I have always and continue to be an active volunteer. Contributing to my community as a volunteer and community leader is something that has defined who I am as an individual,” she said.
Oake has lived, raised her family, and worked in Stephenville and feels she can continue to assist in the town’s growth and development as a town councillor.
“As a community volunteer and leader I bring a sound voice, an open mind and an ability to interact effectively between residents and council,” she said.
Oake is a member of the planning and traffic committee, the town’s personnel committee, a town representative on the leisure and recreation council and on the beautification committee.
The past four years has provided her a wealth of knowledge and experience in municipal policies and she would embrace the opportunity to continue to represent the town for another term.
