The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) have arrested and charged a 45-year-old Corner Brook man in relation to an incident in the Curling area of the city early this morning.
At about 2:30 a.m, RNC officers and paramedics from Western Health responded to a complaint of property damage and assault on Barry Street.
It is alleged the accused broke into the home, damaged property belonging to the female resident, and assaulted her. The accused is also accused of damaging a vehicle during the incident.
The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics for what police says are non-life threatening injuries.
The two are known to each other.
The accused fled the scene on foot and was located in a wooded area near the home. He was arrested without incident and held at the Corner Brook detention centre.
The accused faces charges of assault, mischief, break and enter, uttering threats and failing to comply with court orders. He will appear in provincial court today.
