RNC allege SUV was stolen from a residence in Corner Brook

DEER LAKE A teenager allegedly driving a stolen SUV died in hospital following an early morning accident near St. Judes on Monday.
The RCMP in Deer Lake said the vehicle struck a highway sign in the ditch and rolled over before coming to a rest on the driver's side. The accident occured around 4:30 a.m., and traffic was reduced to one lane on the Trans-Canada Highway while police investigated and removed the wreckage.
The RNC said the vehicle was reported stolen from Atlantic Avenue in Corner Brook.
A male passenger of the vehicle was also transported to Western Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment of what police described as serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic Services West and a collision analyst responded, along with members from the identification unit, and conducted a scene examination with the assistance of Deer Lake RCMP detachment officers. The investigation is continuing.
