O’REGANS A hunter who was reported missing overnight has been found safe and sound in southwestern Newfoundland.
The RCMP in Port aux Basques received a call regarding the overdue man in the O’Regans area at 11:05 p.m. Monday night.
A search was organized to begin at dawn Tuesday morning, but the man was able to walk out of the woods himself once daylight broke and he was able to see his surroundings. He was located shortly after 7:30 a.m. He was cold and wet, but was otherwise reported to be in good health.
The RCMP reminded people to keep safety in mind during moose hunting season. Police urged people venturing into the woods to know their surroundings, stay with their group and be prepared for a survival situation.
