CORNER BROOK A 13-year-old boy is in custody and facing multiple charges, including assaulting a police officer, after a disturbance on Clarence Street in Corner Brook Wednesday morning.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a complaint of a fight in the east end neighbourhood at around 10 a.m. and detained the youth.
According to the RNC, the fight involved the teen who was arrested and a 15-year-old boy. The two were known to each other and the older teen sustained a minor injury in the altercation which did not require medical attention.
The police said the younger boy had allegedly gained entry to an unoccupied home on Clarence Street and damaged personal property.
After he was taken into custody, the youth allegedly damaged more property and resisted arrest. There were no further injuries reported as a result of this incident.
The boy was charged with assault, break and entry, assaulting a police officer, two counts of mischief and one count of breaching an undertaking.
He appeared in provincial court in Corner Brook Thursday morning and was released on an undertaking after a later court date was scheduled.
