Newly elected Coun. David Decker, left, takes his councillor’s oath from Pasadena town manager Brian Hudson during the first public meeting since last month’s election. Decker will also serve on the town’s recreation committee.
PASADENA — Coun. Gemma Walsh will serve once again as Pasadena’s deputy mayor.
Walsh was nominated during Monday’s first public council meeting since last month’s municipal election. She served in the position during the last term.
Councillors were sworn in during the meeting, but as Walsh was out of the province she will take the public office oath upon her return at the next public meeting in two weeks.
The elected officials were given their committee assignments during the Monday night meeting. Walsh will serve on the Public Works Committee for the new term along with Coun. Barry Walsh. The Recreation Committee will be comprised of Coun. Derek Anthony and Coun. David Decker. Finance will be handled by councillors Keith Hillier and Malcolm Turner.
Turner was nominated for deputy mayor during the meeting but declined, as did Anthony. During the closing minutes of the meeting all the councillors and Mayor Otto Goulding said they were looking forward to the next term on council.
