CORNER BROOK Former New Brunswick premier Bernard Lord will be talking about ensuring Canada remains a world leader in wireless telecommunications in Corner Brook on Oct. 17.
Lord, who is currently the president and chief executive officer of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association, will speak at a breakfast being hosted by the Greater Corner Brook Board of Trade at the Glynmill Inn.
An abstract on his speech says Canadians are connected like never before and yet want even more. And that wireless data consumption in Canada is projected to grow nine-fold from 2012 to 2013.
Along with the demand the technology is advancing faster than government can keep up and old industrial policies are not what consumers need.
The association says it is eager to continue to work with the federal government to ensure the country remains a world leader in the industry.
