CORNER BROOK The final tally is always tough to nail down, but the amount generated by the recent Western Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Radiothon stood at $490,464 as of Wednesday afternoon.
The annual fundraiser for medical equipment at the hospital raked in $316,703 in corporate and community donations during the live radio event held Oct. 4. That amount was topped up by $150,000 contribution from the provincial government.
It is customary for donations to continue to come in after the live event and this year has been no different. Close to $24,000 has been accepted at the foundation’s office since the radiothon broadcast.
Donations for the radiothon are accepted throughout the year as long as donors indicate that's the particular fundraising initiative of the hospital foundation they wish to give to.
