CORNER BROOK Organist Michael Molloy, who is originally from Grand Falls-Windsor, will be in Corner Brook to perform a fund-raising recital for the Committee on Family Violence on Sunday.
Molloy, who will play recitals in St. John’s on Oct. 29 and his native hometown on Nov. 3, will be performing at the First United Church at 7:30 p.m.
All proceeds from the Corner Brook concert, which is sponsored by Royal LePage in cooperation with the First United Church, will go towards the Transition House operated by the Committee on Family Violence.
Molloy moved to New Brunswick in 1978 and has continued to develop his career as an organist, choir director and music teacher ever since. He has a masters degree in organ performance and is currently near completion of his doctorate in liturgical studies at Drew University in New Jersey.
He has given recitals throughout Eastern Canada and the United States throughout his career.
He once served as director of the Cantus Chamber Choir and has been director of music for the 3rd Field Artillery Regiment Band, which plays numerous civic, military and civilian functions throughout New Brunswick, since 1997.
Molloy retired from teaching music at Harbour View High School, where he had taught since 1997, in June of this year. He was also the fine arts consultant for his school district.
