CORNER BROOK — A Corner Brook teen with outstanding matters in youth court will be detained until at least Thursday after being arrested for breaching court orders Monday.

The 15-year-old boy, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, made a brief appearance before Judge Catherine Allen-Westby in provincial court Tuesday.

Crown attorney Lori St. Croix said she was opposed to releasing the youth until she had time to review the youth’s file in its entirety and decide what the Crown’s intentions were.

The boy now has 16 informations filed with the courts with charges that include mischief, break and entry and breaching court orders. The mischief charge is in relation to allegations the teen spray-painted a number of vehicles and homes in October, while the break and entry is alleged to have takenplace days prior to the vandalism.

His matters were scheduled to be called in youth court today, but have now all been set over until Thursday. Time has been allotted in case the Crown remains opposed to releasing the boy and a bail hearing is required Thursday.
