CORNER BROOK  The City of Corner Brook will be placing dumpsters on the Pepsi Centre parking lot for use by residents during the Christmas period.

The containers will be available for residents to dispose of extra garbage accumulated between Dec. 24 and Jan. 6.

The containers are for the disposal of residential garbage only. Oversized items, construction waste, electronic waste and hazardous items should not be placed in the containers.

The city is also lifting the four bag limit for curb collection from Dec. 27 to Jan. 3 to accommodate additional waste gathered during the holidays.

Even with the increases to waste management services during this time of year, the city is still encouraging residents to reduce, reuse and recycle.

For a list of holiday waste recycling/reduction tips, visit www.cornerbrook.com.

More information on the Christmas waste collection can also be found on the website or obtained by calling 637-1630.

Why not put out some recycling bins as well for the wrapping paper and boxes rather than just throwing it all in the dump.

That's a great idea.... The problem is that you get some people putting everything but recycling in it and it ends up at the dump anyway.

Well, it might be at least 35 years behind the times, and completely disregards any semblance of sustainability or forward thinking, but it's convenient. So thanks for that.
