CORNER BROOK  Another winter storm is disrupting the regular routines and lives of many throughout western Newfoundland Thursday.

The majority of schools throughout the region — from St. Anthony to Port aux Basques, and most places in between — are closed for the morning, with announcements about afternoon classes to come.

Marine Atlantic ferries in Port aux Basques and North Sydney, Nova Scotia were able to dock early this morning, but today's crossing are cancelled because of high winds and heavy seas.

There was a short delay with one flight into Deer Lake, from St. John's, but the rest of the flights int the airport appear to be unaffected.

However, the motoring public has been significantly impacted. Drivers have been asked to stay off the Trans Canada Highay between Port aux Basques due to the conditions. Snowclearing equipment had been unable to operate in that area, as well as on the Burgeo Highway and west of Corner Brook earlier this morning.

The city transit is not operting in Corner Brook, as city crews and local contractors work to clear the snow accumulated throughout the city.

The closures and delays have trickled through businesses, organizations, and operations throughout the region.
