CORNER BROOK  Charges of trespassing at night have been laid against a 23-year-old man from Corner Brook suspected of breaking into cars in the city early Saturday morning.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary received a report of a man rummaging through vehicles on Humber Road at 12:26 a.m.

Upon responding, the police located the man allegedly attempting to enter a car on a property on Layden’s Lane, just a short distance from the original call. The man fled but was apprehended by the RNC after a short chase.

The man, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time, was detained by the RNC until he sobered up. He was released and will make his first appearance in provincial court on the criminal charges Feb. 11.
