CORNER BROOK  A 25-year-old male was arrested for assaulting a 17-year-old female in the Corner Brook area Tuesday night, according to a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary release.

The female received minor injuries from the assault.

Both were residents of the same address and known to each other.

The male was held in custody and police say alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Also in the Corner Brook area, a 14-year-old female was arrested and charged with uttering threats.

On the northeast Avalon, the RNC responded to 215 calls during the 24-period including New Year’s Eve.

Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male in a playground in the east end of St. John’s. A 28-year-old male in need of medical attention was found. He was transported to hospital by police and treated for symptoms of hypothermia.

A 56-year-old female was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer following a call about a disturbance on Forest Road. The woman was also charged with resisting arrest. She was held for court.

As a result of a call from a concerned citizen, an 18-year-old male in Conception Bay South was charged with impaired driving.

Another call from a concerned citizen lead to a 47-year-old male on Water Street in St. John’s being charged with impaired driving.
