CORNER BROOK Environment Canada has issued another rainfall warning for western Newfoundland.
According to the weather office, as much as 25 millimetres of rain could fall in the area from Port aux Basques to Corner Brook and vicinity Tuesday night.
A low pressure system over Northern Ontario will track northeastward across Quebec on Tuesday, stated the rainfall warning issued at 4:09 p.m. Monday afternoon.
A warm frontal trough associated with this low will approach southwestern Newfoundland Tuesday afternoon, bringing warming temperatures and rain to most of Newfoundland on Tuesday night. Rainfall accumulations of 25 millimetres are expected by Wednesday morning for southwestern Newfoundland from Channel-Port aux Basques to Corner Brook.
As rain is expected to persist into Wednesday, the public is advised to monitor future forecasts as warnings are likely to be extended to other regions along the west and south coasts.
The temperatures are forecast to get to 3 C Tuesday afternoon, then rise to a 6 C by Wednesday morning and reach a high of 7 C during Wednesday.
