CORNER BROOK — The City of Corner Brook says its insurance provider is assessing the flood damage to a Reid Street residence earlier this week.
A detached garage on the property was moved off its foundations and was thrust into the nearby home. The garage essentially disintegrated upon impact and extensively damaged the house as well.
The homeowner did not wish to do an interview, but said the incident was likely the result of “a failure of the storm drain system on Brookfield Avenue,” which is just above where the home is located.
The city was not willing to comment further Wednesday, other than saying the incident was being looked into.
