STEPHENVILLE — When Mayor Tom O’Brien said ‘Tis the season at the regular general meeting of the Stephenville town council on Thursday, he wasn’t referring to the Yuletide or anything jolly.
That’s well behind us now and the season he was talking about was the season for potholes.
O’Brien said with the freezing and thawing experienced lately this winter that potholes on the roads within the town are continually popping up and the town’s public works department is trying to keep on top of it.
O’Brien said town employees are out filling the holes, but it’s difficult to keep them all fixed due to the patching material being used not lasting in the winter climate.
He recognized there are times the potholes are full of water making them hard to see and urged residents to use caution when driving.
“We’re asking people to use caution when driving out on the streets,” he said.
