Corner Brook RNC lay charges in two alleged assaults

CORNER BROOK  The Corner Brook Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was kept busy on Sunday investigating alleged assaults.

At 11:15 a.m. police responded to a complaint of an assault in the Carter Avenue area of the city. A 25-year-old city man was arrested as a result of the investigation. He was charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief.

The man and his victim were known to each other. The man was released from police custody and will appear in provincial court at a later date.

Then at 2:16 p.m., police were called to the Carter Avenue area again. Following an investigation into this incident, a 21-year-old city woman was arrested and charged with one count of assault. The woman and her victim were known to each other. The woman was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
