CORNER BROOK  A Massey Drive man facing numerous charges that range from assaulting peace officers to failure to comply with court orders will go to trail on 21 of 29 charges in March.

Pius Freeman Gould, 51, was not present in provincial court in Corner Brook when his matter was called Tuesday morning. Gould is in custody at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary in St. John’s.

Instead, his lawyer Amanda Barfitt appeared on his behalf.

Barfitt told Judge Wayne Gorman that her client was entering not guilty pleas on 21 charges. The charges include multiple counts of failure to comply with a probation order, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and assaulting a peace officer.

Gorman set Gould’s trial on the charges to March 20, 21 and 24.

Meanwhile, Barfitt said she expects to deal with the eight remaining charges by way of speedy disposition at the same time.
