Fish and Wildlife Enforcement officers from Roddickton are investigating what appears to be two poached moose found near the Department of Transportation and Works depot in Ship Cove.

The officers responded to the report of two dead moose Tuesday.

The slain animals, which had been shot, were found near the depot’s parking lot.

The cow and calf appeared to have been illegally shot and left at the site, which is on Route 437 at the tip of the Northern Peninsula.

An investigation into the incident is underway and officers are asking anyone who has any information or who may have seen suspicious behaviour in that area on or around Tuesday to please come forward.

Information can be provided anonymously, toll-free to Fish and Wildlife Enforcement at 1-877-820-0999 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Anonymous online reports can also be submitted at www.stoppoaching.ca or www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
