The annual lighting of the flame at the start of Pasadena’s Winter Carnival that was to take place Friday night will now be lit at 3 p.m. today. A kick-off ceremony for the annual event has been cancelled.

A major snowstorm ripped through the area Friday morning causing airport delays, inclement driving conditions and a postponement of events at Deer Lake’s annual winter event as well.

Coun. Derrick Anthony said they will carry on with the schedule from Saturday onward and have a dignitary event on the last day of the carnival, which runs from Feb. 14-24.
