Original date changed to avoid conflict with ‘Stars of the Festival Show
This year’s Stephen Awards banquet has been changed to April 13, a day later than previously announced.
The date was changed so it wouldn’t conflict with Rotary Music Festival’s “Stars of the Festival” show. Cocktails start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
Nomination forms are currently being sent to local organizations and are available at The Georgian office, CFSX radio station and Stephenville and Kippens town halls.
The deadline to have nomination forms returned to one of these offices or given to a committee member is March 21.
All residents of Stephenville, Kippens, Noel’s Pond and Cold Brook can be nominated for the five competitive awards: citizen of the year, youth of the year, junior male athlete of the year, junior female athlete of the year, and senior athlete of the year.
Youth of the year is open to those attending secondary school in Stephenville. Junior male and female athlete candidates must be 21 years old or younger as of Dec. 31, 201, and may be attending a post-secondary school outside the region.
Outstanding volunteer appreciation certificates are also presented each year.
Nominees for this non-competitive award can reside anywhere in the Bay St. George area if their volunteer work was done in the Town of Stephenville or the Town of Kippens.
