A 35-year-old Isle aux Morts man died Thursday following a snowmobile accident about 11 kilometres from his hometown.
Port aux Basques RCMP responded to the call at around 2 p.m. An investigation revealed that the man, whose name is not being released at the request of his family, lost control of his snowmobile at the top of a steep hill, which resulted in the machine landing ontop of him.
Police say the man had been out hunting for most of the day.
The man was located by another Isle Aux Mortes man who attempted to revive him but was unsuccessful.
Police do not suspect speed and alcohol to be factors in the matter, which is still under investigation pending an exam by the medical examiner.
