Don Murphy made the world he lived in a better place, and now the College of the North Atlantic is honouring that legacy by creating a bursary in his name to help journalism students.

Murphy, a former journalism instructor at the college’s Stephenville campus, passed away in November 2013 and is remembered for his infectious laugh and caring toward his students.

An official memorial will be held April 4 at 2 p.m. in the college’s lecture theatre. A slideshow is being prepared, and attendees are asked to contribute any photos they may have of “Murph.”

There will be a gathering at The Bar in Stephenville following the memorial, which will also serve as a fundraiser for the new bursary. Entertainment will be provided by Hard Candy and Chris Mercer.
