Stanislov Kolobanov, a 33-year-old Toronto man alleged to have assaulted a Corner Brook taxi driver Friday evening, was released from custody Tuesday.
He was charged with aggravated assault and released on a recognizance of $700 with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and not have any communications with the victim. He is to reside in Edmonton, Alberta and will appear again in provincial court in Stephenville on April 14.
Const. Justin Deluney said Kolobanov had hired the cab in Corner Brook to take him to the Marine Atlantic ferry in Port aux Basques. The altercation between the two is alleged to have taken place near the Gallants turnoff on the Trans-Canada Highway.
