The Main Dam opening that was scheduled for Tuesday morning has been put off to today.
Deer Lake Power officials were unavailable for comment once again Tuesday afternoon. Some town officials speculated that safety equipment may have to be put into place before at least one of the doors of the 80-plus year old structure is opened.
Like in previous years, the dam opening is being done to ease the high water levels on the Grand Lake. It is expected to send excess water down the Humber River and out into the lake.
Last year there were reports of property flooding, and homeowners in the Nicholsville Road area recently expressed concern about the high water levels.
Deer Lake Power has said those effects should be minimal.
