As of mid-afternoon Thursday employees with Electric Motor and Pump were still working to restore water to Pigeon Cove and St. Barbe on the Northern Peninsula.
Water had been flowing in the two communities for a bit, but had stopped again.
The two towns, governed by a joint local service district, have been without water for over a week after the intake on the communities’ water system in Long Pond froze over last Wednesday.
About 50 homes and a few businesses have been impacted by the loss of water.
The company working to restore service is a division of Pioneer Enterprises of Mount Pearl.
They are setting up storage tanks that will be hooked up to a pumper truck and will temporarily feed the system while work on installing an overland line to a water supply some 1.3 km from the current source continues.
