Ontario men charged in alleged extortion of Corner Brook man released

Ryan Robert Allan St. Pierre, 23, and Gary Jacob Watcheson, 25 — both resident of Ontario — were released on bail today.

The two men were arrested in the area of O’Connell Drive Friday evening and charged with extortion. It is reportedly linked to threatening a targetted Corner Brook resident for about $300,000.

Both men must return to Brantford, Ont., and only return to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador for scheduled court appearances. The next court date is May 27. The men must notify the Corner Brook RNC of any visit to the province within three hours of their arrival and departure.

They were to be released from custody when they deposit $5,000 cash, and each of their sureties sign $5,000 bonds.
