Following a complaint in Flat Bay on Wednesday where a resident had reported concern about some people out on sea ice, police are asking for precautions.

Cpl. Chris Dawe of the Bay St. George RCMP said in this instance those who were out on the ice got safely to shore but he said at this time of year people are being advised to be cautious on any ice.

He said with recent warm weather the ice thickness is now inconsistent and dangerous to be on. Dawe said not only are people who are venturing out on the ice putting themselves in danger, but also anyone else involved in a rescue attempt.
