Seized drugs from vehicle in Stephenville

While no charges have been laid, Bay St. George RCMP members are continuing an investigation into the seizure of more than $1,500 in illegal drugs.

The seizure was the result of a vehicle stop that took place near Little Port Harmon on Monday at 2:30 p.m. when RCMP members searched a vehicle and seized 40 grams of marijuana, 67 Tylenol 4 tablets, 60 Clonazepam tablets, 32 Valium tablets, nine Dilaudid eight mg tablets and nine Dilaudid four mg tablets.

Cpl. Steve Henley, RCMP Team Leader in Bay St. George said drug abuse of any kind is a serious health and social problem.

“Prescription drugs can be just as dangerous as street drugs and can lead to criminal charges,” he said. “Possession for the purpose of trafficking in illegal drugs and in prescription medication continues to be a problem on the streets of our communities.”
