A date is expected to be set for an appearance that could determine how the attempted murder case against Herman Boyd Randell will proceed.

The matter against the man charged in relation to the beating of a woman in Englee in November 2010 was called briefly in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador in Corner Brook Monday, but has been set over until Friday.

In early April, Justice David Hurley ruled in favour of a defence application in the case, but it remains to be seen how that might affect the Crown’s case against Randell.

The details of the judge's decision and the evidence heard during a voir dire on the application are subject to a publication ban.
