A 44-year-old Stephenville Crossing man has a number of charges, including assaulting a police officer, against him following a complaint of a disturbance outside a night club in Stephenville early Saturday.

Cpl. Richard Basha said police received the disturbance call at 1 a.m. and when they attended the man was alleged to have fled in a vehicle.

The man was identified and officers later located him on Brook Street in Stephenville Crossing, where he lives.

Police allege he fought with officers and they arrested him for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, causing a disturbance and refusing a blood demand.

He has a court date set for July.
