UPDATE: The 23-year-old man arrested for theft under $5,000 and two other charges in Corner Brook Tuesday was released from police custody without a court appearance Wednesday morning.
The initial report from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, released Wednesday morning, indicated the man was being held until an appearance in provincial court later in the day.
However, provincial court officials told The Western Star there was nobody on Wednesday's docket who had been in custody. When asked later, the RNC confirmed the man had been released on a promise to appear in provincial court June 24.
A 23-year-old man from Corner Brook is scheduled to make an appearance in provincial court today after he was arrested for stealing from a business in the city Tuesday night.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested him at around 9:30 p.m. after a report of a theft from a business located on O’Connell Drive.
In addition to theft under $5,000, the man has also been charged with breaching a probation order and resisting arrest.
