Alcohol is believed to be a factor in an all-terrain vehicle accident that resulted in two people taken to hospital with what police describe as "serious but non-life threatening injuries" early Sunday morning.

Police are still investigating the accident from a call at about 1 a.m. Upon arriving police discovered that a male driver and his female passenger had driven the ATV over a 100-foot bank in Ship Cove.

They were transported by ambulance to Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville.

Cpl. Richard Basha said he didn’t know what community the two were from or their ages when contacted Monday morning.
