An 18-year-old Ship Cove man, who police allege had breath samples that registered more than twice the legal limit, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Cpl. Richard Basha said members of the Bay St. George RCMP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver at 3:40 a.m. today in Stephenville and located the suspected vehicle and driver.

Following the collection of the breath samples the impaired charge was made. The man was later released from custody for court at a later date.
