Three Corner Brook men caught in the Ford Crescent area of Stephenville on Tuesday evening are facing numerous charges.

Two of them are alleged to have been involved in theft earlier in the day from Canadian Tire in Stephenville.

Cpl. Richard Basha said the Bay St. George RCMP received a report at 9:50 a.m. of a theft of tools from the store.

Then at 6:30 p.m., a resident phoned the RCMP to report suspicious persons in the Ford Crescent area of Stephenville.

Members of the Bay St. George RCMP responded and located three men who attempted to flee, but were all caught by police. They included the two from the morning theft, along with a 20-year-old Corner Brook man.

From an investigation a 27-year-old Corner Brook man was charged with theft under $5,000 from the morning matter. From the evening incident, there are charges of possession of a controlled substance, flight from police and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, which was an imitation handgun. He was later released for court at a later date.

A 30-year-old Corner Brook man was charged with theft under $5,000, failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking and failing to comply with conditions of a probation order from the morning incident. From the evening incident he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

He is in court today.

Police said the stolen property from Canadian Tire was recovered.

The 20-year-old was charged with possession of a controlled substance and failing to comply with a probation order. He was later released to appear before court at a later date.
