The season for insular Newfoundland — all rivers are open from June 1 to Sept. 7; the season for Labrador — all rivers are open from June 15 to Sept. 15.
Anglers should be aware of a new classification system for scheduled rivers. Under the new system, the classification number will equal the number of salmon that can be retained on that river.
Class 0 = Catch and Release/0 fish retention;
Class 2 = 2 fish retention;
Class 4 = 4 fish retention;
Class 6 = 6 fish retention.
For more information on the new classification system, people should refer to the 2014-15 Angler’s Guide.
DFO also wishes to advise anglers there are changes to management measures in the following rivers: Terra Nova, Rattling Brook, and Middle Barachois.
All other management measures will remain the same as 2013.
Details on the regulations pertaining to bag limits, river classification, closed areas and special management areas are contained in the 2014-15 Angler's Guide which is available in booklet form or online at www.nfl.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/NL/AG/anglersguide.
