Public advisory

A temporary visitation precaution is in place at Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing due to a number of residents on Serenity Place (Chronic Care Unit) with influenza like illness.

Western Health is asking for the public’s co-operation during this temporary visitation precaution. Exceptions for visitation on Serenity Place may be made in extenuating circumstances for immediate family members but they are asked to call 646-5800 ext. 7225 before attempting to visit.

Visitor precautions are a series of infection control measures put in place to reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases which are common in health care facilities this time of year. They are designed to help keep residents, families, staff and visitors healthy and safe.

Visitors can help reduce the spread of illness by cleaning your hands before entering the unit and after visiting your loved ones, visiting only one patient at a time and not visiting if you are experiencing flu-like or gastrointestinal symptoms.
