Judge Kymil Howe issued arrest warrants for two men who failed to appear in provincial court in Corner Brook on Tuesday.
Darren Burden had been scheduled to appear on a charge of possession of a controlled drug or substance for trafficking.
When Burden’s name was called he was a no-show and federal Crown attorney Donald Singleton questioned if he had been resummonsed.
Upon checking, he found out that Burden hadn’t shown for a February court appearance, but had informed the court it was because his mother was ill. A warrant for jurisdiction was issued at the time.
However, he missed two other appearances and Singleton said attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful.
In a separate matter, Howe also issued an arrest warrant for Myles Brake. Brake is facing one charge of failure to stop at the scene of an accident knowing there has been bodily harm.
He also was not present when his name was called for a first appearance on the charge and the legal-aid duty counsel had no information about the matter.
This time the warrant was requested by provincial Crown attorney Brenda Duffy.
