Corner Brook man charged with break and entry, assaulting woman

A 45-year-old man from Corner Brook was arrested following a disturbance at a home in the Curling area of Corner Brook early Wednesday morning.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was called to the home at around 6:20 a.m. to investigate a report the house had been broken into and an assault had occurred.

The man was gone by the time police arrived, but was located and arrested without incident at around 3:30 p.m. He has been charged with break and entry, assault with a weapon, mischief to property and four breaches of a court order.

The victim, a 46-year-old woman who knows the accused, suffered minor injures in the alleged assault.

Patrick O’Flaherty was held in police custody and appeared in provincial court in Corner Brook for a bail hearing Thursday afternoon. The bail hearing did not conclude and will resume Friday morning.
