A car colliding with a house and three arrests meant a busy Canada Day for police in Bay St. George on Tuesday.
Just before 4:30 p.m. the Royal Canadian Mounted Police received a report of a motor vehicle collision on the main road in Robinson’s.
It was reported that a truck had lost its brakes and then collided into the corner of a residential home.
The man driving the vehicle was the one occupant and was not injured. No one in the home suffered any injuries either.
The house sustained major damage.
At 4:42 p.m. police stopped a 68-year-old man from Mainland in Port au Port East and arrested him for impaired driving. The man was over twice the legal limit. He’ll appear in court at a later date.
And at 9 p.m. police were called to a disturbance and an assault with a weapon in Flat Bay where a 25-year-old man from the town had allegedly threatened a woman with a baseball bat.
He was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and three counts of uttering threats.
A 23-year-old woman from St. Georges was also arrested for uttering threats. No one was injured in the incident. Both will appear in court at a later date.
