Decian Chaisson, a 44-year-old resident of Mainland facing charges related to child pornography from Operation Snapshot II, will be back in court Sept. 29 to enter a plea.
He faces three charges, including: possessing child pornography, distributing or selling child pornography and accessing child pornography. He had legal counsel appear on his behalf in Stephenville Provincial Court on Tuesday.
Chaisson was one of 22 people from across Atlantic Canada arrested in late June 2013 through investigations that targeted child predators who collect, possess and distribute child exploitation material online.
At the time, 64 charges were laid or pending.
The RCMP’s Canadian Police Centre for Missing and Exploited Children and Behavioural Sciences Branch announced the completion of the joint police Operation Snapshot II in Atlantic Canada on June 26, 2013.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was the partner in the investigation that led to the charges against Chaisson and the Bay St. George RCMP provided assistance.
Operation Snapshot II, which began in April of 2013, was focused on two key priorities: first, to identify and rescue children who were victims of sexual exploitation, and second, to identify and charge high-risk offenders who collect, possess and/or distribute child sexual exploitation material online.
