Ship Cove man over twice legal limit charged with impaired driving

A 60-year-old man from Ship Cove on the Port au Port Peninsula has been charged for impaired driving resulting from an accident on Route 490 near Barachois Brook.

Cpl. Richard Basha of the Bay St. George RCMP said a report of an intoxicated driver who had got his vehicle stuck and locked himself out of his car at the location was received at 4:20 a.m. on Saturday.

When police attended they arrested the man for impaired driving and allege that when tested, his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

He will appear before court at a later date.
