Deer Lake to Orlando service will be available next year
Vacationers will be able to travel to Florida for weekly flights out of Deer Lake next spring.
Sunwing Vacations will be offering the flights to and from Orlando from March 19–May 7, 2015.
Florida is the number one sun destination for people of the province during the winter and spring months, says Jamie Schwartz, CEO of the Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority, in a prepared release.
The Deer Lake Regional Airport provides regular or seasonal domestic and charter passenger services with several airlines including Sunwing, Air Canada, Air Canada Express, Canadian North, Provincial Airlines and WestJet.
This new service is in addition to Sunwing’s winter schedule next year from Deer Lake to Varadero, Cuba from March 17–April 28 and to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from March 18–April 29.
In the same release, Todd Lee, chair of the Deer Lake Rgional Airport Authority, said Sunwing has developed a loyal and strong customer base during the past few years with affordable and convenient direct service to warmer climates.
The Deer Lake airport is the second busiest facility in the province, and the fourth busiest in Atlantic Canada, with passenger records broken most of the past dozen or so years.
