Man charged with assaulting woman early Friday morning

A 22-year-old woman did not require medical attention following an alleged assault at the hands of a 23-year-old man in Corner Brook.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested the man in relation to a disturbance on the westside of the city early Friday morning. He was charged with assault and failing to comply with court orders. He was held in custody overnight and was expected to appear in provincial court Friday.

At about 3:15 a.m., an RNC patrol and dog unit responded to a complaint of a disturbance between a male and a female in the area of Forestside Road. Both the victim and accused were known to one another, reported police.
