A car passes along a Corner Brook street with a posted speed limit sign of 50 km/h.

Slow Down.

The message coming from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook Region is simple. Achieving compliance is a different story, but they will try.

However, the city's police force as issued a call for motorists to be aware of speed limits and their own driving habits.

For the remainder of the summer, the RNC is increasing patrols on city streets focusing on speeding, particularly in high density residential neighbourhoods.

Police are reminding people to be aware of posted speed limits on roads and to use caution through construction zones. Officers will be utilizing hand-held radar equipment in specific locations as well as extra patrols to enforce laws under the Highway Traffic Act.

While they're at that, maybe they can take the time to do something about all the cars parked on sidewalks.
