Woman released from custody after early morning disturbance

A 32-year-old Port au Port East woman was released from custody when she appeared in Stephenville Court on Friday on several charges, including resisting arrest.

The Bay St. George RCMP were called to a residence on the Main Road in Port au Port East at 3:13 a.m. on Friday regarding a disturbance.

During an investigation into the incident police discovered a man and woman were involved in a domestic dispute and both of them were currently on conditions not to have contact with one another.

As a result the woman was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with conditions on an undertaking and with resisting arrest.

The man fled the area prior to the police arriving and he was still being looked for on Friday afternoon.

The woman was released under a number of conditions including once again that she have no contact with the man.
