Police seek driver involved in pedestrian collision

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck a woman while she was crossing Elizabeth Street early Sunday afternoon.

The 48-year-old woman was not seriously injured and did not seek immediate medical treatment after she was hit while on the pedestrian crosswalk near the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Grenfell Drive at around 1:30 p.m.

The driver of the small, light green car that struck her got out and assisted the woman, but he did not provide her with the necessary information as required under the Highway Traffic Act. Any time there is a collision, those involved are required to exchange information such as identification and insurance policies.

The police would like anyone who witnessed the accident or has information regarding the driver of the car involved to contact the RNC at 637-4100.  Tips may also be called in anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222 TIPS (8477) or at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
