A Deer Lake man charged with attempted murder may be entering pleas when he is back in court in two weeks.

Legal-aid lawyer Sandi MacKinnon told provincial court Judge Catherine Allen-Westby Tuesday that discussions are ongoing with Crown attorney Lori St. Croix in regard to the matter of Alex Normore.

Normore has been in custody since early March, accused of beating a man with a flashlight. He faces 10 charges in total — attempted murder, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, carrying a weapon, theft of a truck belonging to the man, damaging a gyproc wall, committing forcible entry, unlawfully entering a dwelling, resisting arrest and break and enter.

MacKinnon said they are working to resolve the matter “one way or the other,” and she is hoping pleas are entered during the Aug. 26 court appearance.
