The first anniversary of the opening of Blanche Brook Park will be celebrated Saturday.

Aragorne Lomond, leader of the Conservation Corps’ Stephenville Green Team, said in a prepared release that members are nearing the completion of their summer work on the Blanche Brook Park gardens and trails.

The park day is being held in conjunction with Walk-a-Ways Parks and Trails Committee from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the public invited to join the celebration of accomplishments and progress to date in the development of the community park.

This area, formerly a residential area, was impacted by the devastating flood in 2005.

Blanche Brook Park Day will feature free activities for all ages, including Zumba and interactive games for children such as a scavenger hunt, a relay race, and a coloring page booth.

There will be live musical entertainment and guided tours of the park including the walking trails, arboretum and blooming garden.
